The Impact of Identifying as Minority Status
Publication Design
This was the second publication in a larger project where we were prompted to research and write about a personal experience. The first publication explored the difference between being a minority and being in the minority. This publication is an informative book that dives into the effects of identifying as minority status.
To establish a baseline understanding, I stated all relevant definitions.
For each term, I included all of the definitions from Merriam-Webster, a greatly credited dictionary. From there, I put the specific definition in bold that best fits the discussion.
I chose to include all of the definitions in order for the reader to see why the bolded definition seems to have the most relevance as opposed to just picking and choosing the definition without showing any others.
The book is divided into chapters based on the major effects of identifying as a minority status as seen through extensive research.
These chapters have different color backgrounds, colors that represent the various shades of skin color. This full range is seen through the front and back cover to show that certain skin colors are not exclusive to identifying as minority status.
